Pontiac – Elsie M. Thompson, 98, of Decatur, IL formerly of Pontiac passed away at 8:15 p.m. August 18, 2010 in Fairhaven’s Christian Home, Decatur, IL
Graveside memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 24, 2010, in the Memorial Park Cemetery, Pontiac, IL. Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Elsie was born July 17, 1912 in Centralia, IL the daughter of Allen and Elsie (Winegarner) Bond. She was educated in the Centralia schools. She moved to Pontiac, IL in her early 20’s to work at the Fashion Bilt Shoe Factory and married Charles Alva Thompson on July 3, 1939. They had a son, Alvin A. Thompson in 1947. She was a baptized member of the First Baptist Church of Pontiac since April 1960. She taught children’s Sunday school for many years.
Surviving is her son: Alvin Thompson and his wife Patricia of Decatur, IL; grandchildren: Chad Thompson and his wife Amy of Metamora, IL and Angela Thompson of Decatur, IL; great grandchildren: Cade and Caris Thompson both of Metamora, IL.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister, two brothers and her granddaughter Tanya.
